Ext. In Front of Closed Jewelers - Day
Sounds of wind and distant traffic fill the air. Walking through the abandoned street she glances at her reflection in empty windows almost as if making sure she was still there. Everything else here had died, she didn't want to be next. Hearing the sound of footsteps click against the sidewalk she turns to see a figure round the corner of the building. She stares at the shadow for a moment contemplating whether to call out or let it pass.

You know that iconic scene in Breakfast at Tiffany's where Audrey Hepburn is in her now famous black dress, pearls, and tiara, staring into the window front showing her reflection and all of New York City behind her? To me, it's one of the prettiest scenes in film, so while walking down this street on my way to work one morning I thought how it could be interesting to create an "abandoned Audrey Hepburn" scenario here with these once popular jewelry stores and an outfit to match. Except, pink. And leopard. If you look far enough into one of these windows you'll catch a glimpse of these pretty gold elevators which I really want to take a picture of, but have yet to find a way in. Chains everywhere, man.

Just 3 more days until I'm on a plane and heading to LA! So stoked (practicing up on my Cali language) to finally get to see the west coast after having dreamt about it for so long. One event that I won't get to make, but wish that I were, is the Wine and Dine event at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose. The pictures of the hotel itself looks regal enough for a movie set it. I've made a promise in my heart that I'll make it out there one day for a couple of sleeps and photo shoots, because I'm sure it would be the best time. If I were able to go though, I would probably show up in an outfit a lot like this one, but with a little more bling. Maybe some diamonds in my ears and a big rock on one of my fingers for good measure. Go big or big home. Now, just as Fairmont Hotel asked me, I'm gonna ask you, if you were...or if you are...attending their Wine and Dine event what would you wear? You know how to reach me.

Meow

retro halloween, classy cat mask, satin evening gloves, screenwriting, girly halloween cat costume, vintage inspired photography, style,
Int. One last swipe of lipstick and she slid the mask over her eyes. Her gloved hand pulls the hotel door shut and she glides down the stairs towards the sound of live jazz mingled with the clink of champagne glasses.

Happy belated Halloween to you all! No, I did not go as a cat as these self portraits might suggest, but instead as the Babadook which you may already know if you follow me on twitter (@desfleurae). I spent the night forgetting I looked terrifying and scaring myself every time I glanced in a mirror, getting spooky/silly with some of my favorite people, and eating all the candy offered to me by the nicest of Uber drivers. Safe to say, it was a good one!

Ext. Broad Street - Day
Click, click, click. The rhythm of her heels grows faster as she catches sight of her destination. Standing in front of the building she lifts her sunglasses and squints up at a window on the 16th floor.

Well ladies, you walk a little differently when your feet are covered in Swavorski crystals. I can tell you that for a fact after having worn these Wolford tights, which are practically tiaras for my feet. This must be how Kate Middleton feels when she wears her crown...and Beyonce all the time. Kept it classy with an all black twinset, knife sharp eyeliner, and ruby red lips. Then took myself out. To go get chinese food. Then back for some Netflix. But I took myself out nonetheless. Also, idk if you noticed but umm I'm sitting in and on a vintage Volkswagen. Hello, one of the top 10 best things ever. I had passed it the day before and crossed my fingers that it would be there again the next day when my camera battery wasn't dead. Well, do you believe in miracles? Because the next day came and there it sat. Turns out it belongs to a super cool guy named Cody with VW Mafia Customs, who rebuilt himself. Having been in the family 20 years its practically an heirloom, and yet he was kind enough to let me sit inside and contemplate stealing it. If you're in Chattanooga, pop by Vaportonics on Broad and see it for yourself.

Have a good night humans. If you're like me you've got both the new Adele and Justin Beiber on repeat. And if you don't, it's probably just because you haven't heard them yet.

A Near Classic

Ext. Warehouse - Day
She heads towards home as her dress ripples in the blowing wind. Her hands pull her jacket tighter around her to block it's sting, when she turns at the sound of her name.

It's so Tennessee to be summer one day and pure winter the next. Two days ago I was running around in shorts and today I was  typing "winter coat" into Polyvore. Whatever, the colder it gets here, the more excited I get for my mini vacay to LA next month. Wuuuuuuuut wuuuuuut! Finally, I am getting the chance to walk the same streets as my beloved movie stars, singer, and fashion icons of the past. (Not sure if I like that I just used the word beloved. Feels a little creepy.) Anyways, I'm already positive I'll love it.

As for today, I went for a classic black/white/red outfit and switched it up with mismatching shoes. A homeless man told me it was strange, but eh, I'm feelin'  it. The real star of the show though, is this polka dot patterned Karina dress. Really loving the criss cross neckline it's got on it too. Very Marilyn Monroe. Maybe it should come to LA with me?

Hope you're having a good weekend. Love you, mean it!

Independent U by Kotex

Int. Window Sill - Night
Her reflection stares back at her while she gazes over the city lit only by stars and street lights. Looking out over all of the buildings in this big city she felt something rise up with in her. She wanted it, all of it. And one day, it would be hers.

That's right, this one right here is for the LAAAAAAADIESSSSSSS! I'm talking tampons, pads, liners, and that feeling you get when you put on your brightest red lipstick. I'm talking...GIRL POWER! *sparkles explode EvErYwHeRe* While I have been sponsored to write this post, please know that all opinions are 100% my own. Ain't nobody telling me how to live my life. Read on...

As a 23 year old, I would say I've had some experience learning what it means to become an independent person. I've held my fair share of part time jobs, dealt with family struggles, had my heart broken, graduated college, pulled my hair out over what the future held, and have yet to stop dreaming. With each new step though, I grew. Looking back, even the most painful or confusing situations lead to opportunities of self discovery including beginning this very blog, and deciding to try ballet. Both, I fell madly in love with and have really poured my heart in soul into. One, lets me express myself through stories and fully explore my sense of style, which I think is derived from who I truly am. The other, physically allows my thoughts and emotions to spill from my brain and heart to the floor in a series of motions that silently tell a story. Both, give me confidence. This is the same feeling I get from the products made by U by Kotex. They're available in a variety of designs and colors so that you, can choose what's best for you. Recently, I've both moved into a new apartment and begun my first full time job, and for both of those, I've trusted U by Kotex to come along with me. Right now, you are able to purchase a box of U by Kotex tampons and will find a free pack of bonus liners, which are always reassuring to have on hand. Whether I'm pitching an idea at work, taking photos in a favorite outfit, or en pointe in nothing but a tutu, I feel assured that I can successfully manage it all under the protection of U by Kotex. With this said, I've posted the two outfits I feel most confident in, from the street to the stage.
