Garden of Illusion

top and socks: forever 21, skirt: c/o choies, heels: ebay

"And so she found herself trapped in the Garden of Illusion. Grasping for the real, and running from the fake. Each turn added to the glittering confusion. How could she be dreaming and still be awake?"

I am so into movies/stories that keep you guessing about what's fabled and what's true. Shutter Island, The Secret Window, Khaleesi in the House of the Undying...you find your own self caught up in the story thinking completely one way, but then the ending comes along and huh uh honey, things are not as they appeared. Upon finding myself in a rose garden Tuesday afternoon, dressed rather whimsically in pink, gingham, and polka dots, I thought there would be no better opportunity to recreate a photoshoot inspired by such a scene. Unless of course, I somehow encounter a snowy storm with lots of mirrors and icicles, but let's be realistic, I currently live in Tennessee, so the chances aren't that great. Also, still being realistic when I say I'm head over my little white Ariana Grande heels for this outfit, and might just wear it until the end of time, or until I am gifted some Moschino.

In other news, I met Julian Casablancas this week, so yeahhhhhh it's been a good one. Also, I should mention that he is a wonderful human being both on and off stage. Visual proof over on my Instagram...@tennesseeroseblog.

Guest Post: Precious Collier

Say hello to Precious Collier of Ensemble Deux! We met on the Internet several weeks ago, as so many do these days, and decided to do a little guest post collaboration together. Keep scrolling to see her adorable style, and watch as I dare to ask the question "if you could play anyone, which movie character would you be?" You heard it here first, folks. Also, if you want to see the guest post I did for her blog, you can view that HERE. <--Click me baby.

How would you describe your personal style?
I would describe my personal style as feminine, classic and vintage inspired. My all time favorite outfit to wear is a dress with a peter pan collar.
Who/what inspires your style?
I find inspiration through fashion bloggers, youtubers, movies, magazines, and music.
You are pretty much the Queen of layering. Always cute, and never tacky! Do you have any layering "tips" or "guidelines"?
Awe thanks! I would love to say that I have a particular technique when it comes to layering but I don't. I think its important to have an open mind, creativity, and time to try on a few options. Thats basically how I come up with my layered looks. I just try on combinations till I find something that I like. More than anything I believe its important to also have confidence in what you created, there is nothing that sells a look more than confidence.
What inspired you to start your blog? How long have you been blogging?
I decided to start a fashion blog my senior year of college. I have always loved reading blogs and have found them inspiring. I wanted to start a style blog to share my personal style. My style blog is fun and makes me happy; it gives me something to look forward to. Personally I wanted to start a style blog because I knew it would bring happiness to my life and I couldn’t be more right.
Who are your favorite fashion bloggers?

My favorite bloggers are Rebecca with The Clothes Horse, Steffy with Steffy’s Pros and Cons, and favorite fashion youtuber is Jenn with Clothes Encounters.
Currently listening to?
I am currently obsessed with The Drums new album, Encyclopedia.  If you haven’t yet, check it out! It’s a lovely listen!
What are your "go to" pieces?
My all time “go to piece” is a dress, I am completely obsessed with them.
What is your dream outfit?
My dream outfit be a dress designed by the Gabrielle "CoCo" Chanel herself. That would be amazing!

Any advice to new bloggers/those wanting to start a blog?
I would say to anyone who wants to start a fashion blog is just do it! Use a blogging platform such as blogger or word press, grab a camera, and start posting. Look at the other blogs for inspiration and take a leap of faith and start your own blog/personal style.
Favorite fashion magazines?
My favorite magazines are Elle and Vogue. I also like Darling Magazine and Zooey  Magazine.
If you could play any movie character, who would you be?
If I could play any movie character, I would be Amelie Poulain from the french movie Amelie.

Out of the Woods

sweater and shorts: goodwill, socks: target, shoes: asos, flower crown: me

"But the monsters turned out to be just trees."

What's up, Awktober? You know what I'm talking about, that "too cold for a tank top, but too warm for tights" weather that we've been experiencing lately. Just, awkward. I won't hate too much though, because this is also the time of year when you can find free candy almost anywhere you go (errybody hands go UP!). Also, Taylor Swift, has a new album coming out this month, which is definite cause for excitement. I don't care how mainstream her music gets, her string of lights are still bright to me.

Anyways, back to the weather and my outfit. Yeah, it can be difficult to know what to wear when you feel like you have to choose between sweating or having chill bumps, but this sweater with shorts ensemble pretty much has me in the best of both worlds. Plus, most of it was thrifted, so yay for my bank account, and my cutting the legs off Levi's abilities.

Arya

shirt: gap, dress: target, brooch: charming charlie's, socks: american apparel, shoes: dsw

Sometimes you wear an outfit that makes you feel like Arya Stark in a dress, but you don't have a crown...or a sword...so you just end up drawing your accessories onto pictures. It's okay though, because I kind of really like how cheesy and imperfect it looks. I do wish though, that I had brought my dog, Autumn, with me so that she could have pretended to be Nymeria. That, would basically be as cute as these heels, scalloped edges and all.
