Scenic City Sweetheart

shirt: old navy, jeans: gap, shoes: aldo, bandanna: levis

I'm not sure if it's because I was just in New York, or because I've been playing Ultraviolence nonstop since it dropped a while back, but Lana's "Brooklyn Baby" has been stuck in my head for days. Using Lana as my muse (what's new right?), I found myself pulling together an all Americana outfit for today. I mean, how can you go wrong with the white shirt and jeans combo? Anyways, while I am still feeling the post New York City blues, I have to say the rooftop views of my Chattanooga are pretty stunning themselves. Guess, that's just Chatt living up to it's Scenic City nickname. Needless to say, I fully enjoyed the opportunity to spend my morning gazing out over the city and taking blog pictures. That is until a homeless guy came over to spectate. That's my cue. (Insert peace sign emoji here)

New York City iPhone Photo Diary

Hello Internet, I'm back! I've spent the past week in New York City, where I basically had the time of my life. I swear I could stay in New York forever and it still wouldn't be long enough. I've never been anywhere else where you can literally feel opportunity in the air. Whether I'm shopping the streets of SoHo, getting coffee in the East Village, exploring in Brooklyn, or staring up at Manhattan's sparkling lights, I never lose the feeling that there, I can be anything I want to be. Oh, I love New York.

Anyways, sorry for the lack of posts while I was gone (and I know if you follow me on Insta, you've already seen these pictures too), but I'll be back with a fresh outfit post tomorrow night! Stay tuned.

Days are Gone

dress: Desirae Danielle (www.desiraedanielle.com), shoes: ebay, sunglasses: asos

Can't stop spinning this record or this dress. Haim, has quickly become one of my favorites to listen to, and judging by all the magazines and top (10,20,50) whatever lists I've seen them in lately, I imagine I'm not the only one. Their honest lyrics mixed with retro rhythms sold me, but the fact that they're sister makes them even cooler. I kind of see them as a more rock version of Destiny's Child. Is that weird? Or just accurate? Anyways, Este Haim, (well I mean all of them would be awesome) has officially been added to my "Who I Would Like to Hang Out With" list. I like to think she would dig these sunglasses.

In other news, tomorrow I'm going to Jay Z and Beyonce's On the Run Tour concert! This means I will be in the same room as Jay Z. Breathing the same air as him. Watching him perform. In real life. Excited doesn't even cover it really. Follow me on Instagram (@tennesseeroseblog) to see any pictures/videos I take!

Suburbs Siren

shirt: walmart, shorts and bustier: forever 21, shoes: ebay, flower crown: me

The sun shines on the pavement bringing tiny drops of rain with it. She looked up towards the clouds thinking of all the other places that that same sky was over right now. So close her heart could already feel that she was there, but just far enough away that she couldn't yet live it. Just like a mermaid wishing for legs to explore the land, she wished for wings to explore even further. She would get them, she always knew she would. She was stuck in the suburbs, but dreaming of the moment that she would be up in the sky she was staring at now, shifting shapes just like the clouds, and shining bright just like the sun, and landing in a new place just like the raindrops falling all around her. Her day was coming. She was getting closer all the time.

When putting an outfit together I always like to create a story that goes along with what I'm wearing (and often what I'm feeling/thinking/relating to/etc. (though sometimes it's fun to do one completely unlike me, but I mean I can't do that everyday)), and if I'm taking outfit photos I usually try and find a way to tell that story the best that I can. Like an editorial or a lookbook I suppose. For this one I chose to combine pretty much all my favorites, underwear as outerwear, shorts, and a flower crown. (So girly I love it ah!)

Oh gosh, sorry for all the rambling in this post, I clearly am a bit scatterbrained today.

Also, only 8 more days 'till I leave on that big jet plane! New York, I'm coming for you baby! For a whole 6 days :)
