As the clock strikes 12, the crowd cheers, confetti falls, and she celebrates with a quick kiss from the sharply dressed stranger to her right.
2016, was a strange year, for nearly the whole world it seemed. It took me to some beautiful places, such as, well, Paris. But, it also took my best friend from me (If you follow me on Instagram, you know my dog Autumn passed about a month and a half ago) and I'd be lying if there aren't still days that leave me in tears over it. Anyway, I said farewell to this odd stretch of days with champagne, sequins, and my third viewing of La La Land. Which I've seen about 4 more more times since? Maybe 5? I've sort of lost count. All I know is once the lights come on and my feet leave the theatre I can't wait to run right back in and see it again. It's the most inspiring thing I've come across in a long time, and I love the cloud it puts me on every time I view it. Not only that, but it seems to give me some sort of burst of hope to keep going and pushing and striving to achieve my dreams, because they can, they really can come true.
As for my outfit, I chose to celebrate in a silver sequined shift from Tobi.com, red satin kitten heels, polka dot tights, and just a dash of fur and diamonds. Well, fake ones.

That moment feels so vivid and cinematic, like one of those scenes where time almost slows down for a second and everything just blends together—the noise, the lights, the surprise of a stranger’s smile. I can picture her laughing it off afterward, wondering who he was and if the kiss meant anything or was just part of the magic of midnight. It’s funny how tiny moments like that can stick with you longer than planned celebrations, and somehow it reminds me of how unexpected connections pop up in the most random places, even when I’m buried in reading Law of torts research paper topics and my mind is miles away from parties and confetti.
