"I remember you well in the Chelsea Hotel"

Perhaps our secrets aren't best kept within each other, but within places. Locked behind apartment doors, tucked into wall crevices, sitting on shelves, peering through windows, lying in open fields, and even tossing in waves and buried beneath sand. There is the moment when you enter or even just pass a place of the past and your mind becomes a flurry of memories. The rush of a kiss. The unforgettable sound of a magnetic laugh. The ghost of someone who left long ago. All of these things still as present as when they first happened. Maybe this is how Leonard Cohen feels about his time at the Chelsea Hotel? This  song was after all my inspiration for the post. Dressing up in 60's inspired pieces pretending to be a lady staying in the hotel at that same time, making memories and then leaving them behind with a sign that reads "Do Not Disturb."

The 60's are one of my favorite eras to try and recreate whether it be through photos, make-up, or outfits. Give me a mod style top and some high waisted shorts and I'm good to go...both out into today's world and back to one I only wish I had known.

Autumn Leaves Falling Down Like Pieces Into Place

dress: Desirae Danielle (that's me! www.desiraedanielle.com), socks: american apparel, shoes: asos

It was a rather simple outfit for today, but one of my favorites nonetheless. If you've been reading my blog for a while, than you've probably recognize this dress from my Desirae Danielle collection lookbook. It was, and still is, one of my very favorite designs out of all of them. A circle skirt along with lace embellishments just does something to me, like make me head outside and pretend to be (or maybe actually be) caught up in a daydream and falling to the ground like the autumn leaves.

Anyone else watching the American Music Awards tonight? So far I've watched, and rewound, and watched again Taylor Swift's performance, applauded both Ariana Grande's black dress and remixed songs, and couldn't look away from Lorde for a second. Oh, Iggy is about to do something, gotta go!

Desirae Danielle

All pieces from Desirae Danielle.

So, I'm pressing pause on my normal outfit posts today to introduce something that I've been working quite hard on. Years ago, the dream of owning my own clothing line and producing my own designs was instilled in me. I remember being just a little kid and watching my Granny sew up pillows and homemade dresses, and I was always so mesmerized by the patterns, the machine, and the outcome. Flash forward a few years, and I'm making my own clothes, and realizing that that's what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. So, after much hard work of planning and executing, here is my very first collection, Among the Clouds. Among the Clouds, tells the story of a girl lost in her thoughts. Lying in the afternoon sun, she relives memories locked in her diary, and daydreams of places she will go, and the love that she will find. If you want to see the full lookbook, you can do so here, and feel free to visit the website here.
