Oh, humans! It feels like I have been waiting forever to share these photos with you! They were taken way back at the end of January for LOOK Magazine, when they were doing a piece on NYFW street style, and this is the outfit that I said I would've worn. (with a leather biker jacket, because it would've been freezing). You can check out the whole thing HERE. I thought about retaking them so that I could create a little film story plot thing as I like to do, but when I was looking back at these I thought they looked nice enough to post even if it was a bit different from what I usually do.

On a side note, isn't it funny how little pops of red, especially in shoes, add such a whimsical touch? Of course, in this embroidered skater dress from Nishe I can't imagine how I could feel any other way. It's a dress fit for a fairy. (I wish I could add my red heart emoji so bad!)

"I remember you well in the Chelsea Hotel"

Perhaps our secrets aren't best kept within each other, but within places. Locked behind apartment doors, tucked into wall crevices, sitting on shelves, peering through windows, lying in open fields, and even tossing in waves and buried beneath sand. There is the moment when you enter or even just pass a place of the past and your mind becomes a flurry of memories. The rush of a kiss. The unforgettable sound of a magnetic laugh. The ghost of someone who left long ago. All of these things still as present as when they first happened. Maybe this is how Leonard Cohen feels about his time at the Chelsea Hotel? This  song was after all my inspiration for the post. Dressing up in 60's inspired pieces pretending to be a lady staying in the hotel at that same time, making memories and then leaving them behind with a sign that reads "Do Not Disturb."

The 60's are one of my favorite eras to try and recreate whether it be through photos, make-up, or outfits. Give me a mod style top and some high waisted shorts and I'm good to go...both out into today's world and back to one I only wish I had known.

OOTD Lookbook Video

Meanwhile on YouTube... I've been uploading some of my recent outfits in video form. If you liked any of the photos from THIS post, THIS post, or THIS post, just click the above video to see them LIVE! Other videos you should probably be checking out (BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE !...I don't know why I'm talking like an OxyClean commercial, but I agree it has to stop. RIP Billy Mays.)... Ahem, anyways, other videos that you should probably be checking out include Taylor Swift's video for "Blank Space", but it's incredibly beautiful, incredibly well directed, and incredibly styled! WATCH HOW QUICKLY TAYLOR SWIFT CAN ROCK YOUR WORLD! (last time, I promise.) Seriously though, I want every outfit she wears in it. I also want the car she beats up, and the house that she lives in. Santa, you listening?

Drive

sweater: missguided, shorts: urban outfitters, jacket: forever 21, socks: american apparel, heels: ebay

"Her eyes shine like neon lights. Darling by day. Driver by night."

This outfit is completely inspired by one of my most favorite movie characters, the Driver. (ya know, from Drive).  I won't get into a full character analysis here, but the film portrays him as this bad guy/good guy type, who has a good heart that leads him into violent situations. He also has killer (pun maybe intended?) style that is worthy of emulating. That is exactly what I have tried to do here with my girl version of his simple looks that are yet packed with attitude. So, I paired my ultra femme fuzzy sweater and shorts (which are the best ever as they literally feel as though I am wearing a fleece blanket on my body) with a leather jacket to toughen it up some, and then finished it off with ruffle socks and white heels because I can't imagine pushing the pedal to the metal in a getaway car wearing anything else. Really, I think all this post is missing is some fitted leather gloves and the sounds of an 80's synth.

Because, you are my flower.

dress: the white pepper, shoes: asos, socks: urban outfitters, hat: missguided

I often think, that humans aren't all that different from flowers. Turning our faces to the sun, we stare out windows from propped up elbows like stems, and feel a sense of being when we step out for some fresh air. Maybe, the whole world is a garden after all?

I am proud to say that I am officially an owner of a The White Pepper dress. I have been lusting over the brand for what seems like ever, but just haven't ordered anything before because of international shipping and all that, but hey look who finally took the plunge! Anyways, it's gingham, and has that cute baby doll fit that makes me feel like spinning, while also allowing me to whatever I want that day and completely hides any trace of a bloated food baby. I would also like to acknowledge that this is my first time breaking out the knee socks since cool weather last left us. As sad as I am to see summer go, I am excited to begin creating outfits with what is my favorite accessory, except for flower crowns.

In other news, tomorrow is the beginning of Music Midtown, and I will be heading down to see some of my favorites Iggy, Lorde, Jack White, and I still haven't completely wrapped my mind around this one, but LANA DEL REY! Dreams come true people. Dreams come true.
