Int. Bedroom - Day
From the floor of her pink, typical teenage, bedroom she flips through pages of her new Elvis book until she drifts away in daydreams of meeting him.

So, clearlyyyyy I have spent quite a bit of time wondering what my life might've been like if I had lived during the 50's or 60's. Would I have danced in my living room to American Bandstand? Spent my free time writing stories on a typewriter? Hoped for a date to the drive-in on Friday night? Probs, but one thing I know for certain, is that I would've made sure that I went to see Elvis liiiive and in person. As much as I like him now, I can only imagine how intensified that feeling would be by being lucky enough to live in the same time period as him. Alas, I wasn't, so photos, movies, and records - of course - are about as close as I'll get to that experience. That's why I pretty much jump at every chance I get to live viewings of golden age movies, or books that help take me back, like this one, Elvis Style: From Zoot Suits to Jumpsuits by Zoey Goto. As you can see through some of these photos, this gem is filled with information from every aspect of Elvis's life and the emphasis he had on society. I mean, the man singlehandedly changed the way the world dressed. From his Rockabilly street style to his flashy jumpsuits - it seems Elvis's fingerprints can be found on nearly every trend from those days. It doesn't stop there though, Elvis Style: From Zoot Suits to Jumpsuits depicts The King's influence on contemporary art, his stunning collection of cars, and even added a tour of the Elvis Hidden Hideaway in Palm Springs to my bucket list. If we're getting technical, it actually features over 175 photos, many of which show rarely seen before Elvis-worn outfits.

Due to the fact that I live in a studio apartment, I've turned my coffee table into a fireplace mantle of sorts where I keep my favorite books and magazines proudly on display. It's surely no surprise that this book has officially secured it's own little place there amongst my favorite French Vogue issue, Taylor Swift's Vanity Fair cover, and Matt Zoller Seitz'z Mad Men Carousel. Now idk what that means to you, but to me that screams this book is the actual bomb. Lucky for you July 31st will be here in just a matter of days and you'll be able to get one for your very own coffee table, to sit next to your very own Lana del Rey Maxim magazine, or maybe you're super fancy and have an actual mantle and can place this baby where it truly deserves to be. In all seriousness, visit http://elvisstylebook.com  now to secure your copy before pre-orders end on July 31st.

Morning, Sunshine.

Int. Apartment - Morning
Steam rises from her freshly poured coffee as she waits on it to cool. Her face is buried in the morning news, save for the glimpse we get when it's time to turn the page. Reaching the puzzle section, she folds the edges and bites the cap off of a pen and gets to work.

Good morning! Well, currently it's night, but let's improv shall we? I was recently inspired by the mattress experts at Casper (<- click for more) to talk about how I recover from a long night out for National Margarita Day. Seeing this as an opportunity to spend one morning simply making waffles and sipping coffee without guilt, of course I accepted!

Imagine, it's Saturday morning about 8:30, and while you don't have immediate plans, you do have to get up and moving before it gets too late in the day. The catch? You shouldn't have had that last glass of champagne and now you're not sure if the sun glaring through your windows is actually that, or the universe's attempt to kill you. Eh, yolo.

So, operation "I Woke Up Like This" begins.

1. Breathe deep. It hurts now, but it will be ok. Roll over and get out of bed.
2. Coffee. And water. This is your life line. Skip this step and the rest is nearly useless.
3. Take your time, read the paper, scroll on your phone, sit on on a balcony and stare out over the city if you are lucky enough to have such a thing/view.
4. When you are feeling up to it - food. Also very important or your day is likely to feel a lot less energetic than it should. I recommend a basic yogurt parfait with fresh fruit and granola, which can be totally stepped up with a splash of rose water or lavender extract mixed in. Toast with blueberry vanilla goat cheese topped with sliced straw berries. But mostly, I say go big for waffles. Super sugary and perfect like, these.
5. More coffee, or trade that second cup in for a real Holly Golightly approved move like mixing champagne with a bit of blue curaƧao and simple syrup.
6. After this, I'll try to find a way to get in an hour of ballet at a local studio's morning class. Or, run, which is less enjoyable but works. Or, just a nice hot shower with a bluetooth speaker that is maybe probably most likely waking up my neighbors.

If this doesn't work...well, sounds like a Netflix day to me.

Ext. Parking Garage - Day
The sound of car doors slamming and revved up engines echo throughout the garage. Headlights circle down through the levels searching for the way out. Quietly, at the exit, she waits.

I'll go ahead and apologize for all the evil glares that it looks like I'm giving throughout these photos. It's not you, I promise, it's me. During the time that I took these I was experiencing a splitting migraine and was doing all I could to just keep my eyes open. TMI,  but, as soon as I was finished I ran inside, puked, and slept for like 10 hours. I know, so cute...

Aside from what I just mentioned above, I was actually having a pretty great day up until that point. Not to mention, a great hair day. I mean hellllloooooo I got like six inches in that bouffant bishhhh. As for my body, it was happily wrapped in this new dress from The White Pepper, which is a brand I've been a fan of for a LoOoOoOoOnG time now. (Exhibit A) I knew when they said they were sending me some new pieces that I would not be disappointed. Actually, I was so excited I had to take a short dance break to be able to resume life as normal. Fast forward a week or so and I'm looking at reflection in the mirror wearing this dress and thinking "well, they've done it again." If you haven't already checked out their new winter collection, I highly recommend popping over to their site for a minute and scrolling through. Probs gonna find yourself another Cyber Monday buy.

Speaking of, I finally ordered a new lens today after dropping my 50 mm and then drowning it in tears and apologies. It's been a pretty good sport about me shoving it back together and pretending nothing happened, but there's no denying that it's focus has been really out of whack. Soon, we should be back to high quality y'all. Get excited. Or at least pretend.
