Morning, Sunshine.

Int. Apartment - Morning
Steam rises from her freshly poured coffee as she waits on it to cool. Her face is buried in the morning news, save for the glimpse we get when it's time to turn the page. Reaching the puzzle section, she folds the edges and bites the cap off of a pen and gets to work.

Good morning! Well, currently it's night, but let's improv shall we? I was recently inspired by the mattress experts at Casper (<- click for more) to talk about how I recover from a long night out for National Margarita Day. Seeing this as an opportunity to spend one morning simply making waffles and sipping coffee without guilt, of course I accepted!

Imagine, it's Saturday morning about 8:30, and while you don't have immediate plans, you do have to get up and moving before it gets too late in the day. The catch? You shouldn't have had that last glass of champagne and now you're not sure if the sun glaring through your windows is actually that, or the universe's attempt to kill you. Eh, yolo.

So, operation "I Woke Up Like This" begins.

1. Breathe deep. It hurts now, but it will be ok. Roll over and get out of bed.
2. Coffee. And water. This is your life line. Skip this step and the rest is nearly useless.
3. Take your time, read the paper, scroll on your phone, sit on on a balcony and stare out over the city if you are lucky enough to have such a thing/view.
4. When you are feeling up to it - food. Also very important or your day is likely to feel a lot less energetic than it should. I recommend a basic yogurt parfait with fresh fruit and granola, which can be totally stepped up with a splash of rose water or lavender extract mixed in. Toast with blueberry vanilla goat cheese topped with sliced straw berries. But mostly, I say go big for waffles. Super sugary and perfect like, these.
5. More coffee, or trade that second cup in for a real Holly Golightly approved move like mixing champagne with a bit of blue curaƧao and simple syrup.
6. After this, I'll try to find a way to get in an hour of ballet at a local studio's morning class. Or, run, which is less enjoyable but works. Or, just a nice hot shower with a bluetooth speaker that is maybe probably most likely waking up my neighbors.

If this doesn't work...well, sounds like a Netflix day to me.

Int. Outside of Ballroom - Night
Chandeliers hang outside the ballroom refracting light from their crystals and reflecting it into the eyes of a brown eyed girl standing in the corner. In and out, people dressed in their best attire pass through the doors, notes of jazz float in the air with every opening.

Wellllll, hello. Long time no talk, unless you've been following me on Instagram of course (@tennesseeroseblog), but I will admit that I let this space slip from my fingers a little bit. I can't be perfect all the time, k? No, in all seriousness I do apologize for the unexplained absence, I just got, distracted I suppose is the proper word. However, nearly a month late I have finally gotten my ish together and made some New Year's Resolutions, one of which being that I post her just as regularly if not more so as I was in previous months. It's a good time to stick around too, because I'm visiting New York later this week and hope to get some pretty little photos if I don't freeze to death first. I always kind of get a little stressed about my outfits and traveling. I want to pack my best outfits, but I also don't have space to bring my whole closet. Then of course there's the whole different temperatures thing. Sigh, what a difficult life we live huh?

One outfit I would love to bring but know I can't is this fancy jumpsuit right here. With all of it's ruffles it's practically the adult version of the princess dress I used to run around in as a child, which might still be my favorite formal outfit option btw. Being about 100 pounds too big for it now I had to go with the next best thing. My only regrets are I had to wear a size bigger than normal so I felt like it didn't look quite as cute as it could have. My luck being what it is left me standing in a bathroom stall with three girls trying to get my zipper unstuck only to result in it ripping. Merry Christmas to all, right? Looking back it was probably for the best as I would've hated to have the thing bust open while jerkin it on the dance floor. What do you call that karma? Coincidence? Fate? Eh, who cares.

Ext. Home - Dusk
Almost out of sight, the sun dimly lights the street with traces of grey and pastel giving a creating a sense of magic in the air. Fingers intertwined they walk until they are are standing out front of the white fence. He lifts her chin to have her face meet his, as they slowly disappear.

There's hardly an outfit I love more than one that is pink and accented with pearls and fur. So luxurious, no? Even though my pearls aren't real but yours probably aren't either so whatever. This particular ensemble lead my mind to the olden (there is no red squiggly line so I'm assuming that's a real word?) days when dates consisted of being met at the door with flowers and dropped back off at the same place with a kiss. This stunning chiffon The White Pepper dress gave me the opportunity to play pretend as a ghost couple from the past who are unable to let go of this moment. All done up in their finest outfits they relive their last date over and over. For those of us who are living breathing humans, I would recommend something like this for any upcoming holiday parties you might be attending. The dress is such a dreamy piece on its own, just pair it with an expensive *looking* fur jacket and something sparkly and you're good to go! Also, random, but ignore the weird indent in my chest, I wore some strapless bra thing that I didn't realize would cut what little boobs I have off in such a weird way, but alas I took the picture from my memory card and now that's all I can look at. I waited to post these for several days now because I was hoping to retake the photos since I'm not 100% happy with them, and because iPhoto corrupted half of them making them unusable. In the end, I just couldn't delay any longer. At least the dress looks good!

Goody Clean Radiance Update and Giveaway!

Int. Suite - Day
A heap of outfits that "just won't do" lie at her feet in front of the full length mirror. She steps into a shiny pair of black heels and twists from side to side.

RISING UP

As she twists she begins eyeing her look beginning at her shoes and ending at the top of her hair. She runs her brush through one last time before nodding satisfyingly and reaching for her keys.

Err, hope you guys don't mind looking at my mug for a bit because there's quite a few photos of it here. Normally, I try to avoid taking face only self portraits because I have found when I start editing them that I'll notice some "issue" with myself and wind up blowing the whole thing out of proportion  until one night I'm standing in front of the mirror with 50 different creams ready to perform some sort of Princess Diaries type ritual.  Also, because there are much more interesting things to look at such as the clothes I'm wearing or the styling of the photograph. In this case, I was trying to capture my good hair day, and well, face kinda had to go along with it. I mentioned previously in THIS post that I had begun using the Goody Clean Radiance brush and was experiencing very good things. Today I'm back to gush about it a little more...and give you beautiful people a chance to win some major hair swag! If I could reverse the roles right now and see YOUR faces I would like to imagine they are filled with joy.

After having continuously used the brush from the first time I posted I've noticed even more of an impact that it has made on the (ugh I hate to say this word) greasiness of my hair. Dry shampoo used to be a without fail every day thing for me, but thanks to Clean Radiance I've been able to cut down to using it more like every two days while still keeping  the same fluffiness, or I guess volume is the "proper" word for that. Certainly, I intend to keep it as part of my daily routine forever and ever and everrrrrrrrr. It's you and me until the end, kid. Ride or die.

Now, for the moment we have all been waiting for. Yes, all of us. You get a chance at some bomb a prizes and I get to play Oprah. Today, I have teamed up with Goody and Acorn Influence to bring you the chance to enter
1. A Chi Straightener and CROC blowdryer (valued at $200)
2. Goody Basket (valued at $100) *2 winners*
3. $25 Walmart Gift Card *25 winners*

Let the angels sing.
